Way to go.i am so happy to see this website up
and running. The best people in the world to tell their own story is themselves.
This party is a great organization and should have the talent to keep its members informed.
I was a writer for the beacon 1976-1980 along
with Denzil Agard and we did what ever we could
to keep our troops informed.
I was the secretary of the city branch 1978-1980 and secretary young socialist as well as a
member of the NEC 1978-1980 and when i left
barbados in 1980,i knew we were in good hands.
We need to keep the fire burning and carry the torch for this great political organization.
We in south florida must help promote the
good work our goverment does.
Recently our consul general -Mr.Bushel
told a gathering of us on dec 2nd at his residence
of the tremendous progress barbados has made
under the leadership of the BLP.
We are all proud barbadians and love our country. We pray for continued wisdom and
leadership for our beloved country.

Truth // January 16, 2008 at 1:54 pm |
Today the 16th of January 2008, I am at the single most devastated point in my life, simply because I cannot believe that the Barbadian public is so ignorant to seriously implicate the countries progess. They say they want change…….. I say, WHY CHANGE SOMETHING THAT DOESN’T NEED FIXING! The Arthur administration has brought this country from the rubble and was on a great path to continually building it, and now we are left to a government whose experience and qulifications is a disgrace to a country which is suppose to be the at forefront in the caribbean, whether economiclly, politically, socially etc. The only way I can see this government succeeding is by the grace of God.
All I can say is that I am truly, deeply, sadden!

truth, all there is now is to hope the dlp can steer the ship like how uncle owen did, or better, now to sit and hope. sigh

It is interesting to note we in the Barbados Labor Party recognise that all things exist through the grace of God. David Thompson has yet to mention God in praise of his victory.
Barbados is doomed. I see no talent worthy and because of the DLP’s state of bankruptcy with regards to same(talent), the BLP should return in 5 years.

tHERE IS NOTHING AT ALL WRONG WITH THE BLP RETURNING WITH FRESH FOLK AND A FRESH MINDSET IN 2013 BUT THEY HAD TO GO FOR A SEASON
Hopeful // January 16, 2008 at 10:05 pm |
While a country’s economic success is important so also is the social well being and morality. We are at a turning point and insteaad of griping over who won let us place our future in God’s hands. Owen and his people needed a break, they forgot itwas the electorate who place them there and to remain humble. I have no problem re-electing him as Prime Minister if this government messes up. However, I am one who would not have voted for a government I am not happy with just because I am uncertain about the future. Who holds tommorrow? God does. When we became independent there was a lot of uncertainty but if we replace our trust in God and not in Owen and the BLP and David and the DLP everything will be okay.

The old people said’ “education is not commonsense”. We not only need leaders with qualifications but some with common sense who can stand back and realise if a government is doing foolishness.
Tracia // January 17, 2008 at 12:38 am |
The people have spoken..the young ones who voted have never experienced the DLP so who can blame them for wanting change. Barbados has stepped into a new era and all of us must stand up and be counted as we all represent this beautiful island….if the government is screwing up the ones on the outside looking in will always blame the people since we are the ones who chose them.
I was born and raised as a member of the BLP and I will die as such but believe it, if ever I believe they are not working in the best interest of the people I will be one of the first at the polls.
I do wish to sincerely thank Mr. Arthur fo all he has done over the years…you truly brought Barbados into the light…let us hope Mr Thompson can continue to carry the torch.

I have taken this loss very hard and I am deeply sadden. But what I am more accutely aware of is that unless we regroup and can also be lost in the wilderness for many years.
We need returning members to reconnect with the people so that we don’t suffer a humiliating defeat in another 5 years.

Jevon Callender,
Perhaps the reason we won was because David placed God in front of all he did. At our last general conference He invited two pastors to prayer for the DLP and ask God’s blessings on the party. It was the first item on the agenda.
David is a God fearing man unlike your former rum drinking Owen.

Good RIDDANCE to the rubbish that was the last blp admistration, their strong arm tactics are a thing of the past, when gov’t ministers could tell upright business persons ” to tow the line or expect a TAX AND VAT AUDIT ” this in itself generated a loss of about 600 votes in this one action, then we add the publics belief that we have had a gross mismanagement of the public funds, with projects tripling in final cost over budgeted cost, and persons being given shady contracts to collect commissions on gov’t vehicles etc, the feeling that corruption had stepped in, then we had those 2 fatal speeches the first being the the dreaded I am specially motivated never to see the return of the DLP to office then the other appointing Mascoll his COLEADER.
In his effort to destroy the status of Mottley he set about destroying the whole party.
Oh yes we are still awaiting word on if there was or if there was not a fist fight at ROEBUCK ST in the lead up to these elections.

Wonder why we are yet to hear squeak out of mottley?????????
What a poor team of opposition members, I see plenty BY ELECTIONS coming in the not too distant future.
How will Arthur humble himself to live under the thumb of mottley is to be seen.
Will Hammy Lashley survive under her???

“David is a God fearing man unlike your former rum drinking Owen.”
These are not the words of a God fearing person, as no God fearing person should be insulting another.
BH // January 18, 2008 at 10:49 pm |
P.S.
You all want to hear what went on inside the DLP in times gone by – it would make you hair turn green – this matter with fist fights and biting is child’s play by comparison to what used to go on.
Remember everyone has skeletons in their closets.
BH // January 18, 2008 at 11:08 pm |
The Barbados Free Press (BFP) is of course having a field day with all of this but they are no less guilty of Deception, Lies and Propaganda than the ones they accuse this of.
In addition, they are experts on stifling the truth and fair comments from persons who want to contribute their comments, once you say something that they (BFP, et al) don’t like you are cut off.
Free Press indeed – I suppose that’s like how the young people says ‘its bad’ when they really mean ‘its good’.

ONE WHO WOULD NEVER CHANGE THE RED FLAG // June 21, 2009 at 6:20 pm |
The time has come now when we in the Barbados Labour Party should go ahead and highlight all the things that was started before January 2008 and then ask what new came on the table since then. Or is it tha the D.L.P has nothing new to say or do so they are capitalizing on all the B.L.P has started and claiming to be they own, and putting names on them. Next we have to continue to let the public know that then have not yet started anything. All our new CHANGED GOVENMENT has done is say ‘UNDER THE LAST ADMINISTRATION’come on is it not time to shut up and drive. Please move on let us see what you are made up of besides hot air.

Well last year it was that The Blp Mp have money hidden oversea in Bank accounts , Yet He say if difficult to find.
How so?
That a Contradiction.
This year its immigration. Has he demstrates his incomplentance AT job creation, he scape goat the issuse on Carricom nationals here, But has absolutely No Problem with European Union Nationals, North and Latin America Nationals, and orNationals from the eastern Hemisphere.
WERID?
Now he saying the retrained workers enrolled in programme form Barbados Vocational Training Institute , will be the ones to leader the country economy out of the down turn.
Now that a very obserd statement to make.
I still wondering though , where all the ” We Want Change People are or gone to?
