BARBADOS LABOUR PARTY

Thompson Delaying Tactics

November 23, 2007 · 20 Comments

Didn’t all Barbadians hear David Thompson say that he was going to broaden the application of his no-confidence motion to include the BLP Government? So what went wrong? Today this column intends to shoot straight from the hip and put this matter squarely on the table. We have grown fed up with this political numb-skull Thompson taking intelligent Barbadians on a political rollercoaster.

Firstly, to understand why the no-confidence motion remains directed at the Hon. Clyde Mascoll, one would have to have been present at the series of meetings held in George Street last week to decide on a course of action for the no-confidence motion followed the discovery of the news that Thompson really does not have any incriminating evidence linking Mr. Mascoll to Hardwood Housing Inc.

During one of the stormy meetings to decide the fate of the ill-conceived no-confidence motion, a number of options were placed on the table for consideration. Thompson was told that he should back off the idea of laying a resolution in Parliament for a debate on the matter simply because not only could he not win in terms of the numbers in the House but more importantly the information he presented to the meeting did not remotely incriminate Mr. Mascoll in any way. However, that option was thrown through the window as it was felt by a few that Thompson had already committed himself and could not pull back at this time.

The second option on the table was the option to broaden the no-confidence motion to include issues of corruption and governance and to direct it at the entire BLP Government. That option was immediately shot down by Sinckler. It was vociferously argued that as far as they were concern this election was about “pay back time” for Mr. Mascoll for leaving the DLP and that since the DLP could not possibly win the election anyhow it should employ all its resources to ensure that Mascoll did not retain his seat. At this point Kellman, Estwick and Lashley all tabled their reservations about participating in a debate which they felt was clearly designed to maliciously malign Mr. Mascoll.

With both these option out the window the only alternative left was for Thompson to proceed with the motion but to do everything possible to delay its actual debate as it was strongly felt that Parliament would soon be going on Christmas leave. It was also felt that the House would most likely not be reconvening until after the election and this they felt would have provided the perfect excuse for not only Thompson to get out of the debate but to also keep the issue alive during the election campaign.  Thompson would then charge that the Government ran away from the debate by proroguing Parliament knowing full that without this issue the DLP has no other election prop.

It is therefore not surprising that after the Government went out of its way to accommodate the no-confidence debate and summoned a meeting of Parliament for Friday, November 23, 2007 that one could read in the daily news for Wednesday, November 21, 2007 that Thompson would not be in the island. He would presumably be away attending a funeral. Barbadians are therefore left to wonder how Thompson determines his priorities.

We certainly hope that upon his return to the island he would be ready to attend to the business of the people for which he is constitutionally mandated to do and stop this contemptuous behaviour towards Barbadians. Is this the kind of leader Barbados deserves? We think not.

Based on your extent of your lying as is clearly evident on this site, to your question Is this the kind of leader Barbados deserves?
    Mr Thompson all the way!!!!
There is no doubt in my mind that this country is overdue and ready for a change and on the present display of your willingness to warp the truth yes Mr Thompson is certainly ready and deserving and able to lead this country no question at all in my mind.
The only thing that may change my opinion is if Mr Arthur would face the nation and explain the tripling of the cost of the prison from US$ 60 million to US$ 142 million, the affair with DANOS and 3S and the triple costing of the road works project from US $ 60 million to US $ 180 million, tell us more aboy HARDWOOD HOUSING, GREENLAND, and last but by no means least that Cheque that your leader sweated about when he was confronted in the house of assembly?
At least in Mr Thompson we have a honest, sincere, religious person who has morals so sadly lacking in this admistration.
Remember our dispute with the DPM over the issue of homosexuality ?

May I also add that this site could well be consider a great advertisment for the DLP.
Look at your previous post, so intent on lying and being untruthful that it took someone to show you up for what you are, a bunch of patheic liars.

When did David Thompson say that? I thought he said the jury is out as to who the motion will be against.

EX MP, I don’t recall any MP in the House with a hearing aid. This must be a condition you developed recently and it is manifested in your inability to hear the truth.

It might also explain why you are an EX MP. Clearly you were unable to hear the concerns of your constituents.

I am however sure that you can hearing the deafening sounds of a sure defeat as TOMPEE retreats to St. Lucia and the EX MP is left here to lick his wounds — again

SSC, you are such a liar that you don’t even realise that Thompy is not in St. Lucia! But then again you are a complete stranger to the truth as you were when you worked at Cable and Wireless.
What are you doing now other than calling Mascoll every morning to give him news? You are so insanely jealous of David Thompson. What did he do to you? A man of your former stature shouldn’t be in such a negative, destructive mode in your golden years.
It is people like you who destroyed Sandiford by filling his ears with nonsense. Now you are destroying Mascoll.
Man, go an rest urself and confess!

EX MP the more you take time to write your dribble the more you expose yourself. You are so stupid that it amazes even me.

    Listen to your admissions

“It is people like you who destroyed Sandiford by filling his ears with nonsense.”

    Question for you.

    Was Sandiford destroyed?
By Whom? — Answer according to you ME
Who are the other people involved? —
Could TOM PEE have been one of those persons?
Can you define the role that TOM PEE played during that time?
How about the role of your team of advisors, Keith Simmons, Evelyn Greaves etc. What impact did their action had on destroying Sandi?
More importantly, What about the role of Sandiford himself and David TOM PEE Tomson, Minister of Finance in the 1991-92 period?
Are you going to accuse the electorate as well?

    Boy yuh too Girlie, Girlie.

“At least in Mr. Thompson we have a honest, sincere, religious person who has morals so sadly lacking in this admistration”. LOL

Well I see Trying to make a Comment is still trying to make a comment and providing quite some laughter at doing it.

The only person in Barbados who sees Thompson in the way you see him is you. I am fairly certain that you and Thompson may very well be one and the same.

    How can a man:
    (1) who has admitted to sitting an exam for his brother,

    (2) who has committed perjury in the law Courts,

    (3) who now has the national trophy for the biggest lie in local politics,

    (4) who received thousands of dollars from a well known lawyer and DLP supporter to be distributed to his colleagues but every cent he kept for himself,

    (5) whose every business deal carries a very high stench of under-hand deals and corruption,

    (6) known to all as a pathological liar,

    (7) whose family background is unlike most average families in Barbados,

    (8) who swindled a poor man out of a house owned by his decease mother, former maid of George Street,

be considered honest, sincere, religious and having morals? You must be joking.

Would this be the same Thompson against whom Freundel Stuart directed his most infamous remarks: “that he was in a dessert dying of thirst and he was the only person available to bring him a glass of water he would prefer die? Is he that same one?

Thompson political life has introduced a new political, moral and religious low in political representation.

What king of a man would call for a forensic investigator, whose fees start from $1.mill, to investigate a matter for which he already has the evidence?

What kind of a man would issue a threat to a whole government to investigate a matter he considers important and urgent in thirty days or else?

What kind of a man would hobble, on one and half foot, up and down the stairs of a political platform, in and out of every nook and cranny and through out the length and breath of this country telling the citizens how corrupt the setting up of the Hardwood Company was?

What kind of a man would humbug a very busy Prime Minister by writing him about nonsense of corruption in providing homes for poor black Barbadians?

Who would do all that and then when the first opportunity arises for him to deal with the issue he ran away and claim that he will debate the issue in his own time? Obviously it is not so important and urgent afterall.

WHO WIIL? Thompson the political joker and laughing stock of the political arena WILL.

Who would believe that TOM PEE the Damsel in Distress ran again from the No-Confidence Debate. The higher the money climb the more he shows his panty.

    yup lol, my sentiments exactly….

i was told last night that someone told thompy that owen was calling a christmas election (which doesn’t make sense since a number a candidates have NOT been nominated yet) so he’s waiting until the election date is set to start the debate.

so desperate are they that they are going to hold yet another meeting in bridgetown on november 29th……how sad…..they claimed a January 2007 election, now they are claiming January 2008…let’s see.

The Nation Newspaper reported the following:
“But an angry Thompson declined, taking umbrage with the fact that the Leader of the House was privy to his correspondence with the Speaker, and accused Government of “total incompetence” and degrading the standards of the House by meddling in a matter that was only between the Speaker and an individual MP.”
When I read this comment I could not help but laugh, and ask the question how serious could TOM PEE be?

    Let me emphasize

An angry Thompson took umbrage with the fact that the Leader of the House was privy to his correspondence with the speaker. Wasn’t it the same David TOM PEE Thomspon who started this whole issue with a PUBLIC LETTER to the Prime Minister, which was published in full in both newspapers? Now this hypocrite is accusing the Government of degrading the “standards of the House”.

Wasn’t it the said David TOM PEE who took the motion to the people’s parliament at a public meeting? And now he talking about the” standards of the House”.

What is total incompetence is the failure on TOM PEE to sign his own motion.

What is total incompetence is the failure of TOM PEE to convince even Chris Sinckler that he has a case against Mascoll.

What is total incompetence is the failure of TOM PEE to provide effective leadership to the DLP particularly after he went to great lengths to have himself named as the “Person to Lead the Party into the Next Elections”.

The higher the monkey climb … TOM PEE yuh PANTY showing

    Hi: Folks

Just to let you know, somebody must be hurting real bad. The so-call free press and the underground have resorted to blocking my post. So I am not able to freely put the truth on the table. That is the level to which the LOO and his goons would go in their desperate bid. I will keep fighting and they can keep moderating my comments but i will keep them busy.

You are all trying but whereas Thompy is speaking to thousands every night and BFP and Barbados Underground are touching thousands, you are talkng to the converted.

David Thompson is bathing the BLP in licks whether you like it or not. He has the country talking about his agenda. Where is yours?

Both of theses papers are public companies and lo and behold their largest shareholders are CLICO! No other newspaper sought fit to run the story as it was clearly planted and very one sided.
    ………………………………………………………………………………
Can you remember this said Clico canceled all advertising back in April 2006 with the Nation Newspapers because the paper carried stories of Industrial unrest about the Bruce Clarke dismissal. The other paper who refuse to carry any story received all the advertising. That is a fact.
    —————————————————————

I remember this and remember remarking to a cbc news clip of Leroy Parris talking about it and suggesting that he should have had a PR spokesperson speak to the public on it, as he came off as an elitist, condesending black man, I was deeply offended by his tone and consternation for the labour process and the right of a Barbadian worker to organize. In my mind he was no different in his action on this matter than the white business owners.

…….But lets not be sidetrack from the premise of the article, which isn’t supported by any facts of what it contends. Isn’t this the same yardstick with which Blp supporters suggest that their party and their corporate friends be judged by?

I would have responded earlier by i am being moderated
