I want to assure the DLP that the next election will come and it will go. Low income Barbadians will be living in their hardwood houses. The BLP will be returned to office and they will still be out there shouting “Hardwood”.
The PNM in Trinidad won their election against the issue of high food prices and the BLP is confident that they can do the same. Why? Barbadians are now in touch via technology with all the major news channels around the world. They are aware of the fact that increasing food prices is a challenge facing both developed and developing countries. They know that in England a loaf of bread moved from 59p to 150p in just six months. In the USA and Canada food prices have also shot up. In fact, what you are seeing globally with respect to the high cost of living is an example of the dynamics of the international capital market in responding to the high global demand for goods and services.
These are matters that are now being easily discussed and handled among first year economic students at UWI. They know that there is nothing political about it at all. The problem facing the DLP, not Barbados, is that due to Thompson’s lack of ability to grasp even the basic economic concepts has resulted in his failure to impart knowledge and to help guide his party colleagues into making public pronouncements of any substance. By the time you combined kellmonomics, estwicknomics and thompsonomics the results is the cacophony of nonsense that passes for serious economic discourse within the DLP.
On the issue of Hardwood it is not the BLP who stands to lose from this debate. It is not our backs that are against the wall. With or without this debate there will be an election in Barbados. We have nothing to prove. It is Thompson who has to prove that there was corruption in the setting of Harwood Housing Inc. and when all the lot of long-talk is done about debating the matter only when he is ready, he better remember that the electorate, most of whom were in Queens Parks in 1994, is ready and waiting on him. That large percentage of un-decided voters, they too are ready and waiting to see the proof he said he has. If Thompson does not debate this matter his fledging political future is DEAD and if he debates it and does not prove his case he is still dead. The election is constitutionally due in mid 2008. We have the time. We are willing to wait on Thompson. If I were the Prime Minister the election date will not be announced until the no-confidence motion has been debated. So let Thompson call the shots. He gave us thirty days and he is now free to extend it. But he must be aware the public is watching and waiting.

This is so true. thompy you can delay this matter for as long as you like whenever you come you better come good. If not the electorate gine have for dinner.
Royalrumble // November 22, 2007 at 6:35 pm |
I am reliably informed that thompy arranged a football match in his constituency between his team and a team from St. Michael.
thompy promised the winners of the match some money from the big cheque he got from clico. Low and behold by the end of the match when the winning St. Michael team was standing around waiting for the prize money they got a big rock along with the disappointment.
They were told that thompy had sent his apology that he could not be there and that he was currently out of the country.
Talk about a pathological liar. Every body knows that when that match was played thompy was in Barbados.
Someone should get psychological help for the boy. This is similar to the lie that he has a funeral to attend overseas so that he can get out of debating the no-confidence motion on Friday. But the public is waiting on he. They dont care how long it takes him.
Trying to make a comment but // November 22, 2007 at 8:36 pm |
It really insults the minds of honest Barbadians when in your effort to defend the indefensible that crap that you expound on people.
Are you for a minute suggesting that the creation of HARDWOOD HOUSING was done with the thoughts of the public in mind or was it done with Masscoll’s financial well being in mind, I am convinced that it is the latter, they were no illegal workers employed at the Company were they? They did not send their workers out to Masscoll wife’s building to do work? They have not issued bounced cheques? Nor have they faltered on the Loan repayments that Murrell owes and lease to the company? Nor have they allowed their principal office to go untouched for the allegedly raping the female employees?
Nor were they wrong to occupy a property rent free owned by the gov’t?
These are but a few of the pressing question the public want replies to not your load of political spin and rubbish we want the issues addressed in a real sense not you smoke screens.
This is NOV 2007 we have the internet and can quickly find things that would have eluded us in years gone by we are much more aware and alert of things around us remember the internet exposed DANOS 3S and his fraud case which we the citizens are still awaiting word from you on it also exposed the VECO bribery case money paid to dishonest politicians in Alaska and based on the awarded contract starting out at US $ 60 million and closing off at US $ 142 million some may even be left to presume they maybe a case for the same bribery charges to be looked into in Barbados as well.
These are but a few things we wants to see our leaders address not this trivial nonsense that you have posted above that works with the uneducated idiots of this world when you get them to believe what you tell them if you say it often enough you expect your clowns to start to repeat it like parrots those days are over we have an education and our eyes are wide open and we have BU and BFP to communicate thru even when you control the other press you cannot control these they are the voices of the people now no more politicians fooling us, we have brains and we are using them.

I have to laugh at the arm chair critic. Please remain seated doan get up.
I would like you to list your “issues of substance” for us all to see here. Come … we waiting.
Because Hardwood is not an issue. Nope. I have no problem with Gov’ment owning a secret company and taking up 2 mil in tax payers money to sink into a company built on lies, that illegally employs non-nationals, and abuses our bajan women.
I also have no issue with a tree getting cut down for 10000 dollars, I think that was too cheap. It should have been for 20000 instead.
I have no issue with Mr. Arthur having children outside of wedlock while married to another woman. This sort of this is good stuff for our own children to emulate … no this is not a issue of substance.
I have no issue with this gov’ment not being able to come out and state its position on homosexuality.
I have no issue with owen lodging 750,000 dollars on his account
I have no issue with Noel Lynch becoming a instant millionare overnight and no one knows how. I dont even mind that he got some silly radio station to pay him 60000 under dubious circumstances
I have no issue with gov’ment creating secret orders to spy on me and read my email. I have nothing to hid, read it all man. I want you to know what color underwear I wearing. Not you though Mr. QEH.
Plus I like to bath in expenisve showers
I even like to be priced gouged and pay triple for anything you can sell me, like a prison or a flyover
I am starting to feel a bit faint since there doan seem to be any issues for me to wrap my mind around .
So clue me in Mr. Arm Chair Critic on what issues of substance i can set my mind on.

For the information of Barbadians who view this site I was asked to respond and I am happy to do so because I live in St. John, play football and support David Thompson.
Mr. Thompson was in Fitts Village speaking at the meeting when the match was played, you fool. It is well known that Families First sponsored the first, second and fourth prizes and that his wife was there to present them in cash out of Families First.
The sponsor of the third prize did not cough up his money. If you doubt me ask Roland Waithe who canvasses with BLP candidate Tyrone Power who organised the competition!
By the way, what did Power do?
Elvis Antrobus // November 22, 2007 at 10:44 pm |
In case I am misunderstood, Mr. Waithe organised the competition not Mr. Power.
HARDWOOD // November 23, 2007 at 4:51 am |
What levels would you fall to, to make a cheap political point, you are absolutely disgusting, I am so glad that they are people like Mr Elvis Antrobus who have the will to come out and show the full extent of your dishonesty.
If lying were an exam you would be at the head of the class.
Sadly your creditibilty is gone thru the window.
No wonder they say honesty in office does not matter maybe for that reason you hold office.
Ex MP // November 23, 2007 at 5:25 am |
I can’t remain silent. Royalrumble you are destroying the BLP with your inane nonsense. This is quite embarassing that you would use your post in the PM’s office to tell such untruths. This can’t help Owen Arthur at all. It is people like you who have destroyed our party.

The Nation Newspaper reported the following:
“But an angry Thompson declined, taking umbrage with the fact that the Leader of the House was privy to his correspondence with the Speaker, and accused Government of “total incompetence” and degrading the standards of the House by meddling in a matter that was only between the Speaker and an individual MP.”
————————————————————————————
When I read this comment I could not help but laugh, and ask the question how serious could TOM PEE be?
Let me emphasize
An angry Thompson took umbrage with the fact that the Leader of the House was privy to his correspondence with the speaker. Wasn’t it the same David TOM PEE Thomspon who started this whole issue with a PUBLIC LETTER to the Prime Minister, which was published in full in both newspapers? Now this hypocrite is accusing the Government of degrading the “standards of the House”.
Wasn’t it the said David TOM PEE who took the motion to the people’s parliament at a public meeting? And now he talking about the” standards of the House”.
What is total incompetence is the failure on TOM PEE to sign his own motion.
What is total incompetence is the failure of TOM PEE to convince even Chris Sinckler that he has a case against Mascoll.
What is total incompetence is the failure of TOM PEE to provide effective leadership to the DLP particularly after he went to great lengths to have himself named as the “Person to Lead the Party into the Next Elections”.
The higher the monkey climb … TOM PEE yuh PANTY showing

Hi: Folks
Just to let you know, somebody must be hurting real bad. The so-call free press and the underground have resorted to blocking my post. So I am not able to freely put the truth on the table. That is the level to which the LOO and his goons would go in their desperate bid. I will keep fighting and they can keep moderating my comments but i will keep them busy.

AH or ah Hartley they say confession is good for the soul. You could use as many names as you like, it is still one opinion or should I say half an opinion because i don’t think you support the views you espouse.

The BLP are a bunch of hypocrates! Can you imagine that these are the same persons who set up a commission of enquiry against Bradford Taitt? If any of you vote in favour of Mascoll you should all apologise to Mr.Taitt.
The people of Barbados are just waiting for you to call elections. You support Mascoll because you are just as thiefing as he is. None of you can call him back because you are ahead of him in the thiefing game. How can you explain the wealth that has been accumulated by Muscle Mary???
Anonymous // December 6, 2007 at 1:49 am |
If Owen Arthur is an honest man he cannot be associated with what Clyde has done. If the PM does not dismiss Clyde Mascoll I will no longer support this party. There is nothing to defend. Clyde was too involved. We waiting to see what your are going to do.
Such Stupid Comments // December 6, 2007 at 1:03 pm |
Oh how desperate can the anonymous get. Prove your case. That salacious nonsense that TOM PEE presented is not evidence that support any wrong doing on the part of the Minister.
Is it wrong for a Minister to assist with a a black barbadian to pursue his dream and develop an idea? I say no.
Is it common place for businesses to have cash flow problems from time to time? I say yes.
Is it wrong for a Minister to assist anyone in sourcing materialds for their business? I say no.
Has the Minister sexually assualted anyone? The answer is no.
Is the Hardwood Housing project a good one, serving a public good of providing low income housing to poor, black barbadians… I say yes, yes, yes.
What are the specific charges of wrong doing and where is the EVIDENCE that connects the Minister to these charges. There are none.

Such Stupid Comments // December 6, 2007 at 6:10 pm |
Velzo you ass, what houses? Answer the questions asked. Where is the EVIDENCE that connects the Minister to these charges?
Donville is connected to porn, should I therefore ask TOM PEE about the tapes or the websites and connect him to this vile act by innuendo?
Anonymous // December 6, 2007 at 6:42 pm |
SSC,
It is the business of a Minister to set policy but not to be involved in directing the said policy. How could it be proper for a Minister to be ordering lumber for a private company? The Minister seem to have had direct responsibility for Hardwood. Do you know that he attempted to prevent the police from charging the GM? Was it proper for the Minister to use Hardwood to provide services for his wife? That was a conflict of interest.
If you see nothing wrong in this then you, the PM and all the BLP Ministers should apologise to Bradford Taitt. You are the biggest hypocrates in the world!
Royalrumble // December 7, 2007 at 11:37 am |
Thompson has not produce one thread of evidence to show any wrong doing on the part of the Hon. Mascoll. In fact on closer examination of the nonsense he presented I am convinced that he does not understand the difference between right and wrong.
How can a man who has committed perjury, lied about an IMF secret deal, neglect his mother and all that be considered a good of judge of character. It is like asking Satan to judge Christians.
Leviticus // December 7, 2007 at 11:42 am |
I thought Rommel Marshall told the House that Mascoll neglected his mother! You seem to have it back to front, son.
As to your allegations, I thought shoplifting, vote buying and bribery, stealing the Credit Union’s money and building a patio without Town & Country planning permission were all made against Clyde Mascoll not Thompson. Has he confessed yet?
Or are these qualiities better suited to a BLP cabinet?
Anonymous // December 7, 2007 at 12:29 pm |
RR,
Why must you tell so much lies? Thompie’s mother lives with him…you call that neglect?
Royalrumble // December 7, 2007 at 12:54 pm |
I was as shock as ever when I heard during the no-confidence debate that Thompson had neglected his mother and she had to write to the press begging him to contact her.
My God. How despicable can one get? His own MOTHER? The author of “FAMILY FIRST”?
Fellow bloggers this says a lot about the caliber of the man who says the he wants to lead this country. To think that this is the same man that led a “family first” campaign in Barbados is unbelievable.
There is nothing like a mother’s love and any man that can turn his back on his own mother is not fit to be numbered among God’s creation.
I hope Barbadians took note that Thompson never denied that his mother had to write a letter in the press to get his attention. His response during the debate to this abominable act was a shameful admission that she lives with him now. My God.
I say to all Barbadians at home and abroad this is not the kind of leader this country deserves. We live in a country where women are in the majority. How can a man despise his mother in this way and then say that he cares about our country and its citizens.
If there is one thing we all know is that both PM Arthur and Minister Mascoll have impressive records in dealing with their mothers. They have publicly spoken of their relationship with them.
When I reflect on the love I have for my mother it hurts to think that out there somewhere is a mother whose heart yearned and eyes wept for the attention of her son. And that she was forced the indignity of having to write to the national press begging him to receive her and to do for her, in the evening of her days what she did for him in his early years is truly despicable.
My God. Oh my God. For only you can help Thompson.

RR,

Does she live with him or is imprisioned by him? It seem to me that is a more plausible explaination. Afterall the embarrassment the LOO is making sure that he controls her coming and her going as well as her letters to the media. She is actually under house arrest, just talk to Mara.
